This year he is going to obtain his Master's degree in Music in the Royal Conservatory of Brussels with M. Hedwig Swimberghe, and he is also following the Postgraduate Music Programme for Bass Clarinet in Rotterdam Conservaatorium with M. Henri Bok.
He participated in masterclasses with prestigious clarinet teachers and soloists like Radovan Cavallin, Luis M. Gimeno, Philippe Leloup, José V. Herrera, Sylvie Hue, Fabio de Cassola and Antony Pay.
He attended the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th *International Bass Clarinet Courses 'Julián Menéndez'* with M. Henri Bok and M. Pedro Rubio.
Héctor Abella played in various youth and professional orchestras, like *Joven Orquesta de Castilla y León (JOCYL), Joven Orquesta de la Universidad de Valladolid (JOUVA), Orquesta Sinfónica del RCSMM, Orquesta de Cámara Aula Quattuor* *Orquesta Sinfónica de Ciudad Real (CROS)* and *De Jonge Filharmonie*.
Normally he plays with the clarinetist Chema García, with whom he was soloist at the *Koncertstücke N. 2 for clarinet and basset horn (Op.114)* by F. Mendelssohn in the National Auditory of Music in Madrid on May 30th of 2003. They were the first to perform the piece 'Suite espanola' (Spanish Suite, composed by Óscar Fernández) for clarinet and bass clarinet, at the *First National Clarinet Festival* in Madrid, on December 6th of 2003.
Héctor Abella is a founder member of the Clarinet Quartet 'Qvatrimonivm' and the Woodwind Quintet 'Épsilon', with which he played on air for the Spanish National Radio on June 21st of 2004.
He plays in other chamber music groups as well, like duo with piano, clarinet and string quartet, clarinet and guitar, etc.
Recently he took part in *The First World Bass Clarinet Convention* in Rotterdam between October 21st and 23rd, 2005.
Héctor Abella was born in Burgos, Spain in 1981.
He began his musical education in clarinet at Segovia Conservatory. He entered the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid (*Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid*) in September 2001, where he studied with M. Justo Sanz.
During his studies in Madrid he got the best possible marks in clarinet, and he took part of the EU's Erasmus Program at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels. He successfully obtained his Soloist Degree in Clarinet in Madrid in June 2005.
